Altessen, a joint venture between Essential Land and Altyon Partners, has worked with the local community and the London Borough of Bromley to create the Vision for the former GlaxoSmithKline site at Langley Court, Beckenham.
In August 2012, the Development Control Committee of Bromley Council was unanimous in granting planning permission for the scheme, which will comprise:
- Approximately 180 homes of different sizes and tenures
- A doctor’s surgery/healthcare facility
- The retention of the existing sports pavilion and grounds for sports uses.
- Green spaces and sensitive landscaping including an enhanced green corridor along the River Beck and pedestrian/cycle links across the sit
The scheme has been created by working closely with local residents and organisations. Over 100 local people attended the Community Planning Day in May 2011, including local residents, local councillors, representatives of local schools and clubs, residents’ associations and the MP for Beckenham, Bob Stewart. Additionally, the team held a pre-application exhibition and met several times with a Stakeholder Group comprising representatives of local residents and organisations. Social networking through Twitter and Facebook was also used to gather local views, along with this website.
